Libraries - Under 5s Week 7 - 12 June 2021

North Yorkshire libraries will be launching a new reading scheme for under 5s ‘Buzzy Bee’s Honey Hunt’ on 7th June and to celebrate, they are devoting a whole week of activities aimed at babies and toddlers.
There is also a series of free online events on the North Yorkshire Library and Information Service Facebook page. These include:
- Folktales and songs from Hoglets Theatre Company on Tuesday June 8, Thursday June 10 and Saturday June 12, all at 10am;
- Learn lullabies and songs with Thula Mama on Friday June 11 at 10am;
- Imagination Time – In the Garden with Buzzy Bee on Wednesday June 9 at 11am. Book a free place on In the Garden with Buzzy Bee.
- Imagination Time – In Their Shoes on Thursday June 10 at 2pm. Book a free place on In Their Shoes.
- Sing along to your favourite songs and rhymes with Elizabeth and Leonard on Wednesday June 9 at 10am; and
- Bedtime stories at 6.30pm each night from June 7 to 11

‘Buzzy Bee’s Honey Hunt’ is a free scheme which rewards young children who borrow books from the library with cards, stickers and a certificate. The colourful cards, designed by local artist Wendi New, depict locations across North Yorkshire, and children can collect them as they progress through the scheme.
As well as joining ‘Buzzy Bee’s Honey Hunt,’ any children under 5 who visit the library to borrow either 4 books or a staff selected book bundle will receive a free goody bag including crafts, musical instruments, seeds and more.
