We’re excited to share a fantastic new resource available across all North Yorkshire Libraries.
From
10th June 2025 – the
Reading Well for Families collection, developed by The Reading Agency.
This carefully curated collection of books is for expectant and new parents, carers, and anyone supporting people from pregnancy onwards. It is designed to support the health and wellbeing of families in pregnancy and the early years from conception to age two, offering trusted information, personal stories, illustrated books, poetry, and practical advice on topics such as:
- Parenting and child development
- Mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Neurodiversity and special educational needs
- Coping with loss, separation, and life changes
- Building stronger family relationships
Reading Well for Families has been co-produced with the Maternal Mental Health Alliance and a panel of people with lived experience of perinatal mental health conditions. Whether you're working with parents, carers, or children, this collection provides a valuable tool to help families navigate life’s challenges with confidence and compassion during the first 1,001 days.
