World Book Day 2024
08 Mar 2024
Yesterday was one of our favourite days in school - it was World Book Day! We had a great day of dressing up, decorating t-shirts and doing all sorts of book related activities.
As always, we were so impressed with the outfits the children came to school in. There were a huge array of book characters on show! We had Mr Willy Wonka, Stickman, Mr Twit, Where's Wally, many Harry Potter characters and many many more. Even the staff got involved by all dressing up as characters from Roald Dahl books. Mrs Spowart made a great Cruella DeVil!
Here are all our lovely children in their outfits.
We began the day with a World Book Day collective worship in the hall. It gave us the opportunity to all be together to talk about books, plus we got to see each other's costumes!
Look how good Class 3 look!
One of our favourite activities of the day involved some felt tip pens and a white t-shirt.
All the children were each given a white t-shirt, and were given the opportunity to decorate it with a drawing of a book cover they really like, or one of their favourite characters from a book. Some of the children wrote a blurb on the back of their t shirts too. The children really enjoyed this activity and we were really impressed with the finished products.
Some of the other activities the children took part in included a book swap and a shared reading session, where the older children were able to share stories with the younger children. It's a lovely, calm time where the children can be together to share a book.
A great day was had by all, and we are already looking forward to next year!
