School Provision update

24 Mar 2020

Good Morning

 Following the Prime Minister’s address last night, it is important to adhere to the very strict guidelines to STAY AT HOME to help minimise the spread of the virus.

 The message below from NYCC re-iterates the Government's message:

Parents in key worker roles are also asked to;

 ·      Only send children to school when you are actually working, not at other times.

·      Do not send children to school if your partner is able to look after them - i.e. working at home.

·      If you are a key worker and working from home, the default is to keep children there, rather than send them to school.

We are maintaining a daily register of children in school which will be submitted to the DfE and Local Authority. We are obliged to ensure that we are supporting the Government in social distancing to help combat the spread of this virus, and only allowing children into school where absolutely essential.

We will require key workers to book places in advance. When you place your booking, we will ask you to confirm your working hours for the day and the work commitments of any other adults in the household to ensure we are all following Government guidance.

If you are a critical worker who may be called into work at short notice, your child/ren MUST stay at home with you. If you are called into work, we will liaise with you to ensure that care is made available.

We desperately want to support our critical workers through these unprecedented times, but it is imperative that we do this responsibly. At the present time, an increasing proportion of our teaching staff are unavailable due to self-isolation. We are precariously close to not having enough staff to safely care for children in our school. The fewer children we have coming into school, the less the risk of the virus entering the school environment and this will ensure we have a better chance of being able to maintain essential care on site.

There are still a number of critical workers who have not confirmed what places they require. If you have not already done so, please email: headteacher@gfschools.co.uk

Kind regards,

Pam Acheson
