Druid’s Temple Cyclocross Race Information (FROGS)

16 Oct 2019

Dear Parents,

The exciting Cyclocross event at Druid’s Temple will soon be upon us! Lots of work has been going on behind the scenes, but we still need any help you can provide to make this event the roaring success it has the potential to be!

We even have the possibility of getting this event match funded, which means that any funds we raise could be doubled!!

With 200-300 people already predicted to attend, this could easily be our biggest fundraiser of the year, and could get us well on the way to achieve the amount required to build our new classroom!

If you have any capacity to help in any of the following ways, your efforts would be much appreciated!

  1. Selling raffle tickets – we have over £1000 worth of high value prizes on offer, including spa experiences, yurt stays, cookery school experiences, dinner in Samuel’s restaurant at Swinton, and family passes to excellent local days out!

If anyone can spare half an hour or so to go door-to-door in the local villages to sell tickets (Claire sold £50 worth in 30-minutes around Mickley the other night!), or to join me selling tickets in Booths over the weekend perhaps, then we might actually manage to sell the full 1000 tickets to raise £2500 before the event. With match funding this will come to £5000!!!

  1. Donations of cakes/baking – with 200-300 hungry cyclists to feed, cakes will be in high demand! If you are able to bake traybakes or cakes in advance then they can be brought to school and we can freeze them before the event. Alternatively they can be brought to school on Friday 25th October, or delivered to the cake tent on the day of the event.
  2. Volunteers on the day (or the day before) – Do have time to join us for an hour or two on the day of the event to man the tea/cake stall, or one of the fun side-stalls like the penalty shoot out game or the nerf gun shooting range? Or would you be willing to be a race marshal out on the course? Or would you be happier sitting in the warm registration area to help register all the cyclists when they arrive? Or can you help the day before the event to set up the marquees and stalls? If so please pop your name on the list opposite the office door. We haven’t had any volunteers to help with these things yet, so if you can help (even for an hour or two) then please put your name on the list and let us know, and we will all sleep easier at night! 😊

Thank you to everyone who has helped so much already! Your support is really appreciated! We couldn’t do this without all your help: you are an amazing bunch, and together we can achieve great things for the benefit of our children and their lovely little school!

Lots of love,

Hannah x
