These courses are suitable for non-teaching staff and parents or carers who are considering work as a Teaching Assistant in the future. The free, short courses are designed to introduce learners to the work of the teaching assistant and help them progress to the next appropriate step in their journey, whether that is to a Level 1, 2 or 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning. Although the qualification courses do have a cost attached, 92% of our learners qualify for fee remission, either because they are unemployed and in receipt of benefits, or are working and earning £20,319pa or less (so includes most part-time workers). In addition, we have funding we can apply for if learners do not qualify for fee remission, but are in financial hardship. We can also apply to this fund to cover the cost of childcare whilst the learner attends their course.
