Weekly Homework

Each week your child will come home with the following homework that will support their learning at school.

1) Spellings - every day (Supporting your child with spellings)
2) Reading - 3 times each week (Supporting your child with reading)
3) NumBots - 4 times each week (see below)

It might take the Y1 children a bit of practice to log onto the NumBots website (we have done this at school) so you may want to try once this week and gradually work towards 4 times a week. 

NumBots
Instant recall is an important part of learning mathematics and gives children a bank of knowledge from which they can draw and apply in a range of situations. Being able to work out a calculation is different to being able to instantly recall the fact (within 3 seconds).

NumBots is a motivational interactive website that provides children with the opportunity to learn, practice and become fluent in important mathematical concepts and caluclations.

In order to get the best out of NumBots children should regularly play for short bursts so we would ask you to give them 5 minutes at least 4 times per week. Little and often is key, so rather than 20 minutes once a week, aim for 5 minutes 4 times a week.
