Homework
Reading
There is an expectation at Grewelthorpe that the children read regularly at home and in school. The children will bring home their reading books and record books every day. They must bring the books back to school the following day. To try to encourage reading at home, we are asking you to sign your child’s reading record. As their confidence grows, they may read to themselves and not to you, but please would you still sign their reading record book.
Spellings
The children will be given a list of spellings to learn each week for their spelling test on Friday.
Maths
In Class Three, there will be a focus on ensuring the children know their times tables and in the summer of Year Four the children will sit a Multiplication Assessment. To support them with this learning, the maths homework in Class Three will often be times tables based, although we will try and vary it too. Homework will be sent out on Thursday and then collected back on on the following Wednesday. There will sometimes be computer based homework and we appreciate that internet connections can drop, especially in rural areas. If anyone is struggling to get online to access the homework just let me know and we can arrange an alternative.
In class we have regular sessions on an app called Rockstar Maths. The children can go on this at home as many times as they want, and they are really enjoying using it. There is a link below to the site to help.
