This week seems to have flown by and we've settled nicely into our routine. In our theme lessons we continued to look into the ancient Egyptian customs and in particular their mummification process. We have begun to look at some of the items used within the mummification stage, such as canopic jars. We learnt that the Egyptians used salt and other substances to dry out the body in order to preserve it. We were keen to try this out... on a tomato of course and so have scooped out the insides and added salt then left it to dry. We will keep a controlled tomato alongside the others to compare as the weeks go by.

Finally we also began to think about our own death-mask designs and will continue with this next week.

Please note that years 4/5/6 will be going on a school visit to the Harrogate Pump rooms which houses many Egyptian artefacts on the 3rd October.
