Welcome back

06 Jan 2023

Welcome back to school and I hope everybody had an exciting Christmas and new year.

For our English topic, we'll be looking at instructions - where we will be focusing on what makes a clear and successful set to follow. We agreed clear prepositions, useful adjectives and parenthesis to guide us and provide extra information.

To decide this we looked at several sets of instructions and followed a few to evaluate them. We made some origami, some looked better than others... mine being the least recognisable.

Can you guess what we were making?

In maths, we're finishing off some fraction work and have begun to add and subtract fractions by using our equivalents knowledge to convert denominators to be the same. Here we are looking at ways to add fractions and checking using representational pieces.

And finally, we have started our theme topic, which is to compare land use and consider what the land offers us. In order to answer that question fully, we need to explore a range of places and so are focusing on Norway, the Scottish uplands and Brazil. I wonder what differences and similarities we'll find. Here we are locating these places and researching facts about the physical and human features which can be found there.
